Our logo consists of 9 waves representing the 9 fruits of the Spirit and the 9 gifts of the Spirit. We want the DNA of our church to be the same as the DNA of the Holy Sprit. His nature and His power working in us.
After graduating from In Christ International Bible College, Pastors Kevin and Elizabeth Burns were married right here in Lake Charles in May of 2000. Immediately following Bible college graduation and their nuptials, Kevin and Elziabeth became full-time children's pastors at Christian Worship Center of Alexandria, LA. For the next 11 years they witnessed the lives of hundreds of children being changed by the presence of God. With the blessing of their church, Kevin, Elizabeth, and their children Noble, and Ansley moved to Lake Charles after sensing God's strong desire for them to begin a new work in southwest Louisiana. Under their leadership, for the past five years, The River has become a place where church is fun and anything is possible!
- Expect Jesus: The Bible says that "wherever two or more gather in His name, then He is there with them." You can expect Him to show up in a real, tangible way that brings life and life more abundantly.
- Expect Family: The Bible says that we are of the "household of faith". When you show up, you are family. Race, gender, ethnicity, political, or denominational backgrounds are checked at the door. You're accepted. You're loved.
- Expect to be Challenged: We will challenge you to forgive "so and so". We will challenge you to love your enemies. We will challenge you to give your time, resources, talent, money, and life to Jesus. To whom much is given, much is required. We're not pew sitters. We're disciple makers. Also,
- Expect Hope: for the hopeless, love for the unlovable, acceptance for the lonely, peace for the stressed, and a future for the forsaken.
